Chocolate Banana Pie with slices of sweet banana and chocolate chips is one of the easiest pies you can make. It is a perfect dessert year-round and is fantastic served hot or cold.
Hi friends! Today, I am bringing you a blast from the past. This Chocolate Banana Pie post was originally published in May 2013. The original photos left a lot of room for improvement. It’s long overdue, but I am finally taking the time to replace the old pictures.
As stated in the original post, this is the easiest pie I have ever made, and I still believe that today. I made two in the past two weeks for family gatherings. They were a hit, especially with my husband, who can’t get enough of them!
I use a ready-made pie crust to make the pie a cinch to put together. It’s quick and easy, and that’s what I’m about these days. But if you want to use your favorite pie crust recipe, go for it!
Below is the original post content in its entirety (with new photos).

Have you ever had something and wondered how you have gone all your life without it? Well, That’s the question I asked myself after I ate this pie. I whipped one up a few months ago. Since then, I have made AND EATEN more than my fair share.
The idea for the pie came to me one day as I brainstormed recipe creations for the blog. I started to think about bananas and how I like them hot. I love the velvety texture, the warmth, and the sweetness. I decided to make a banana pie simply because I had never seen or had one. It has become one of my favorite pie recipes.
This will definitely be my future go-to dessert. It’s the easiest pie I have ever made. Although it is perfectly tasty at room temperature or cold, it is AMAZING hot. Pair it with ice cream (coconut is my preference) and a drizzle of chocolate sauce…heavenly!
Try it, and let me know what you think!

- Place one pie crust on the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan. Add 1/3 of the banana filling. Sprinkle with 1/3 of chocolate chunks. Repeat layering 2 more times.
- Place the second pie crust over the filling. Tuck the edges of the crust under. Crimp the edges using your fingers or tines of a fork. Use a sharp knife to make a few 1/2-inch slits in the crust to allow steam to escape. Brush the crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar in the raw.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes on the second to lowest rack in the oven. The bananas are done when they are soft but not mushy.
- Serve hot, room temperature, or cold with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

I wouldn't have thought that gorgeous blog of yours needed that much sprucing up! I guess we will always be unsatisfied with something about our blogs. So, we will tackle what we can and don't stress out about it too much. This post particular post needed an upgrade because the original photos did not do the pie justice! 🙂
