Hi friends! How was your Labor Day weekend? I hope it was good, whether you celebrated it with friends and family or just kicking around at home.
Now that another major holiday is behind us, it’s time to seriously focus on the next task at hand, and for many of you, it’s armchair quarterback! My husband and I are not huge sports spectators, but we are willing to participate in the celebratory festivities associated with them (don’t hate us; we come with lots of food)!
Our son, on the other hand, is an avid fan of TV sports. You always know he’s been in a room because the television will be on some game or sports talk show. Since I brought up TV viewing habits—you know my husband has been in a room when you turn on the tube and up pops NCIS. I swear, that man probably knows every episode forward and backward. But who am I to talk, I have seen every episode of Friends at least a dozen times each!
Okay, back to the sliders. Monte Cristo does not typically have bacon, but in my mind, everything becomes 2.0 when you add bacon. Right? I also veered away from the tradition with the addition of jalapeños, which I love in these sliders. They add warmth and heat to the mild (but delicious) flavor profile of this sandwich. Since the jjalapeños are only added as a garnish, they can easily be removed for those who can’t tolerate any amount of heat.
Coincidently, these sandwiches are not only good for parties and game day, but they also make a perfect lunch for the little kiddos! The sliders are just the right size for little hands and appetites. For the older ones, make some ahead of time for a quick and filling after school snack that they can reheat in the toaster oven or microwave by themselves.
That’s it for now, my friends! See you back here next time!!

Description
Easily throw together a delicious appetizer for game day or any event with these Bacon Monte Cristo Sliders. They are filled with turkey, ham, bacon, and Swiss cheese and then coated in seasoned egg wash. A garnish of jalapeño slices adds a zesty punch.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9″x13″ baking pan with cooking spray.
- Line bacon slices in a large skillet on medium heat. Cook until brown, about 8-12 minutes (depending on the desired crispiness). Turn over bacon several times during cooking to attain even browning. Remove and drain on layers of paper towels. Allow to cool slightly. Cut each strip into 3 pieces. Set aside.
- Divide the turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese into 12 equal portions each (eyeball…does not have to be exact). Slice dinner rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half on the prepared baking pan. Layer each dinner roll as follows: a divided portion of the turkey and ham; two slices of bacon; top with a divided portion of cheese. Cover with the top half of the dinner roll.
- In a medium bowl, whisk eggs, butter, mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Generously brush egg wash onto the tops of the dinner roll. Allow egg wash to soak for 2 minutes. Pour any remaining egg wash over the rolls using a brush to spread evenly onto the tops of the rolls. Garnish each roll with two slices of jalapeños.
- Spray a large foil with cooking spray. Cover the baking dish with foil, greased side down. Bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 additional minutes.
- Makes 12 servings.
Note:
- Best eaten the same day. If kept refrigerated or dried out, microwave each for about 15 seconds or until barely warm to soften before eating.

Oooh, these look fantastic! My family all loves sports more than I do. I'm happy to stay in the kitchen and make yummy food like your sliders!
Your sliders look heavenly! I try to eat healthy from time to time but I do have a weakness for soft buns and melting cheese. Pinning this for my cheat day inspiration!
We love game day weekends and watch both college and NFL games. It's also all about having lots of food too! We are having people over next weekend for a Patriots game and I was going to do the baked Hawaiian ham & cheese rolls but going to do your recipe instead! GO PATS!!!
Oh, I have never had such a decadent sandwich, it looks sooo good! And we are no sports people either, we only watch the Football World Cup every four years, I guess. But I like the food involved with watching that with friends as well, and it is my task to cook it about 98% of the time. 🙂
Thank you, Juvenilia! When we give into our weakness, carb and cheese are so worth it!! 🙂
Oh no, Karrie! What happened?!! My son made a beeline straight to the TV when he came from work last night. I took a sneak peak—it was all roses and sunshine with the Pats ahead 24-21. Then I saw the score the next morning, OIYYY!! We just have to shake it off and come back with vengeance! I'm so thrilled you are going to make these sliders!!! I so hope they go over well! 🙂
Aww! Thank you, Adina! We are definitely on similar sports viewing schedule. We watch the Super Bowl at my house, but frankly, I'm more interested in the halftime performance, especially if the Patriots are not playing. And , pssst!…just between you and I, us cooks are the silent VIPs of the game. Just imagine how boring it would be without all the food that we make (haa haa!)
Thanks, Liz. I agree, the kitchen is where the real action is and where I'd rather be.
These look fantastic! My husband and I are into our local football and hockey teams. Watching games are always better with tasty foods on hand like your sliders! 🙂 I love butter rolls and melty cheese. Pinning this!
I hope it's a good year for your teams, Marie! Thanks for the pin!! ????
OHHHHH man, I've been wanting to make sliders for EVER now, these look SO good. I'm totally in your boat, I'm not a big sports fan either, I'm totally in it for the food. LOL. These are perfect for when my husband has his friends over for a football game 🙂 WOO!
OH, these look sooooo delicious.I wish that I could just grab one of these sliders from the screen. Guess I am just going to settle for making it for myself.
Thank you for the great recipe.
Definitely saving this for the weekend!
Thanks, Stephanie! I'm glad we speak the language…food is my sport. Haahaa!
Awww! Thanks for the love, Ashika! I hope you'll them! 🙂
I'm a football nut and love having people over for games–I'm going to have to make these next time I host a gathering. YUM! PS, I've seen every episode of Friends at least a dozen times too 🙂
Oh wow, these sliders are everything and its like you put the jalepenos on just for me!! That is the type of little thing that just makes it for me. Take care.
Oh yay! I hope the sliders will be a hit! And OMG! I liked you before, but I like you even more now, Kelsie!! Besides my daughter, you're the only I other person I know who would get all of my Friends references. I feel like we are soul sisters now (haha)!
I'm so with you on this, Stacey. The jalapeños provide SO much flavor!
bacon always sounds like a good idea to me! plus i love how golden those rolls look ????
I couldn't agree more, Heather! Bacon rules ! 🙂
I totally need to make these. They are perfect and I feel like I could eat the whole pan. And a total yes on the jalapenos! And bacon. Always yes to bacon. YUM!
