Honey Glazed Fried Wonton Chips are fried wontons sweetened with a honey glaze and garnished with sesame seeds. They are sticky, crispy, crunchy, and delicious! Enjoy as snacks or dessert.
My husband, my kids, and I frequented this Chinese buffet nearby. It had a large selection of food, was tasty, and reasonably priced. The one thing that kept me coming back was the all-you-can-eat crab legs. I always reloaded on seconds and thirds. Over the years, the restaurant quality declined and we stopped going.
These wonton chips are inspired by another item I enjoyed on the restaurant’s menu, the sweetened fried wontons. I love the simplicity, crunch, and subtle sweetness. The wontons were simply fried, and I suspect they are sweetened with sugar-based syrup.
My version of the wontons are honey glazed and garnished with sesame seeds. They are crispy, sweet, sticky, and delicious!

Recipe highlights:
- Preheat a large skillet to 350°F with 1-inch oil.
- Add 6 to 8 wontons at a time to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd.
- Fry until golden brown, turning wontons over halfway.
- Transfer to a baking sheet equipped with a cooling rack to drain oil.
- Continue frying the remaining wonton wraps.
- Heat honey and butter on the stovetop or the microwave until the butter is melted.
- Brush the top of each wonton with honey mixture.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
I have been frying a little more than usual lately, but when the family is looking for a tasty treat to break up the day, fried food is always appreciated around here. I don’t feel completely guilty eating these. After all, there are plenty of honey and sesame seeds to almost qualify the wontons as healthy food.😀
