Easy Jerk Linguine Alfredo with Shrimp

I love seafood and pasta dishes. They are filling, always satisfying, and can usually be on the table quickly. This has linguine in a creamy semi-homemade sauce consisting of onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, jarred Alfredo sauce, Jamaican jerk seasoning, and shrimp.

A little bit of jerk seasoning goes a long way. The 2 1/2 teaspoons used in this recipe give the dish medium to medium-high heat (depending on your tolerance). Reduce or increase the amount to suit your taste. Keep in mind that it’s better to use less and add more because once you add the seasoning, it’s hard to take the heat back out.

Recipe substitutions:

What’s great about this dish is its versatility. Not a fan of seafood? Swap out or omit the shrimp. Can’t handle the heat? You can make this pasta dish without the spiciness. Below are substitution ideas:

  • Don’t want shrimp? Replace with fish or chicken.
  • Make it vegetarian: omit shrimp and add spinach, broccoli, or cauliflower.
  • Use another type of pasta: fettuccine, pene, angle hair, and bowtie to name a few.
  • For the same flavor profile without the heat, use a mild jerk seasoning (affiliate link).

How to plate:

How to serve the dish is entirely up to you and your presentation style. Option one is to combine the shrimp sauce and pasta prior to serving. Option two is to serve the shrimp sauce over the pasta.

However, if you plan to have leftovers, I recommend keeping the pasta and sauce separated. The reason is that pasta soaks in the sauce over time if they are combined and dries out the sauce (but it’s still delish!).

Easy Jerk Linguine Alfredo with Shrimp

Make this quick and easy pasta dish for a stress-free dinner. (If you get shrimp already shelled and deveined, life is even easier!) The sauce ingredients require about 12 minutes to cook. And including the time it takes to boil water for the pasta, the meal can be on the table in 30 minutes. Who doesn’t love a tasty 30-minute meal?

Serve with a glass of wine, beer, or another favorite cocktail, and turn the meal into a special one! This is good enough to serve to company. They will never know that you used jarred Alfredo sauce.

Recommended supplies:

(Affiliate links. The products I recommend are either what I use, are on my wish list, or come highly rated.)

  • I use a 4-quart saute pan to make the sauce. There is plenty of room for incorporating the spaghetti.
  • I have this over the sink colander. I love that it prevents the food from coming in contact with the sink floor.
  • These tongs with silicone tips are on my to-get list. Silicone is more gentle on soft food than stainless steel tips.

Description

Spice up pasta Alfredo with jerk seasoning! This Easy Jerk Linguine Alfredo with Shrimp is creamy and has a little heat. Zhooshed up store bought Alfredo sauce makes it perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1.  Bring a large stock pot of water to a boil while prepping ingredients for the sauce. Add linguine to the boiling water just before you start cooking the sauce ingredients. Cook linguine according to package directions, but just shy of al dente. Drain.
  2. Preheat a large skillet on medium heat. Add oil, onion, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Sauté for 3 minutes. Add garlic. Sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Add tomato, shrimp, jerk seasoning, and the rest of the salt and pepper. Cook until the shrimp are mostly pink.
  4. Add Alfredo sauce. Increase heat to medium-high. Cook until sauce is hot and bubbly, stirring frequently.
  5. Add the cooked linguine, working it into the sauce. Season to taste. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until linguine is at desired softness. Remove from heat.
  6. Best served immediately.

Note:

  • Prep ingredients while water boils. Cook pasta and start sauce at the same time.
  • If you plan to have leftovers, do not combine the pasta and sauce in the skillet. Serve pasta with sauce on top. Store any leftovers in separate containers. If the pasta and sauce are stored combined, the pasta soaks up the sauce upon sitting and reduces the creaminess of the dish once reheated.
