Avery, a two-year-old in my daycare, is the cutest little thing I have ever seen. When her hair is in a ponytail, she looks just like “Boo,” the little girl from Monsters Inc. Up until recently, Avery had been the youngest child in the group, but she inspired all of the older children to use their manners. They applied it more frequently after seeing how she got praised for using hers. Avery often says “thank you” when I change her diaper, hand her an item, and serve her food. In fact, when I fed her soup for lunch last week, she thanked me in her little squeaky voice before taking each bite…all twenty-five spoonfuls! How cute is that?
One other person who will be thanking me is my daughter, whose craving for Alfredo sauce inspired this post. In this recipe, freshly grated garlic cloves provide a slight hint of garlic, and casserole macaroni (large macaroni) is a fun change from the fettuccine that is typically used with this sauce. This pasta dish is a complete, easy 30-minute weeknight dinner with added ham and peas.
This dish is an ideal way to use up leftover deli ham at the end of the week. Only a half pound is required, but it goes a long way. The combination of ham and peas is fantastic with pasta and Alfredo!

I've got ham in my freezer from Thanksgiving and this is a terrific way to use part of it.
It sure is Karen! This pasta dish will give new life to that Thanksgiving ham.
My daughter's a pasta and alfredo fan too! Love the large macaroni! Avery sounds so cute and how nice that the older kids are imitating her!
It sounds like this would be a hit with your daughter! I love using the large elbow mac. They don’t get mushy like the regular size ones. Avery was adorable my model child for politeness 🙂
what do u do with the 1 cup of milk?
Thanks for asking, Pat. Oops! That was an oversight. Add the milk when you add the light cream. I’ve updated the recipe! 🙂
