Hi everyone! I’m so excited about today’s post because I’m introducing IGF’s first-ever food video clip!! Woo hoo!!! When I decided to jump into the world of food video, I wanted to do a test run before investing money in equipment such as a cooktop and a new tripod with a horizontal camera mount. I’m glad to say that with a little crafty MacGyvering, I was able to make the video with no added cost.
Difficulties with my first ever video:
As you watch the video, keeping mind that it was taped on my iPhone. To get overhead video shots, a phone mount was fashioned from a wire hanger taken right out of my closet. Yep! With some tricky origami-esque moves, I bent and twisted the hanger into a shelf for the phone. The whole contraption was then secured to a cabinet over my work area using a ridiculous amount of stings. For the record, I attached and removed this makeshift phone mount many times, and never did I hang it up the same way twice. Haa haa!!
If you’re curious about what this thing looks like, I regret that I will not share a picture of it. A beauty, it is not, but it got the job done. So, that is all that matters, right?
Oh yeah! Don’t get me started on the technical difficulties with the phone. I had to restart clips so many times because my phone continuously ran out of memory and died in mid-shoot. No matter how many images I deleted from my library, I could not create enough space to shoot even a short 10-second clip. After a couple of hours of fighting with my phone, I was able to hijack my husband’s to complete the rest of the video.
All in all, it was a good learning experience. I think I will continue to keep doing more of this video thing. I’ll be more prepared next time.
About these marshmallow pops:
Moving on to the marshmallow pops. How adorable are they? These pops are all about fun and satisfying a sweet tooth. Have you ever had marshmallows stuffed with brownie chunks and dipped in candy melts? If not, there is no better time than now! Just look at the swirl pattern! I just want to spin the pops and look at them all day. Achieving the swirled effect is incredibly easy and really fun to do too!
For the brownies, no need to make homemade (unless you want to create a lot more unnecessary work for yourself). I use store-bought…Cosmic Brownies to be specific (this is a personal recommendation, not sponsored), because they have the perfect consistency for shaping and stuffing into the marshmallows. (I remove the candy sprinkles on top of the brownies.) If you opt to use something else, I recommend fudgy brownies as they are easier to shape and crumble less than the cakey type.
Customize for different occasions:
These marshmallow pops are perfect treats for Valentine’s Day. They are also ideal for other holidays and special occasions: showers, birthday parties, gender reveal parties, Mother’s Day, 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas. Changing the candy melts color is all it takes to customize it to the occasion.
If you want to make a special treat for the loves in your life this Valentine’s Day, you’ve got to try these. If you have little kiddos, they are going to love these pops! Better yet, they are going to love helping you make them!!

Recommended supplies:
These are products I use, or on my wishlist, or are highly rated. (Amazon affiliate links)
- White candy melts for swirling marshmallows.
- Pink candy melts for swirling marshmallows.
- 6-inch cookie sticks for skewering the marshmallow pops.
- For convenience (and they’re yummy), I like to use Cosmic Brownies. But use a fudgy brownie that is easily available to you.
- One bowl has about 14 to 16-ounce capacity for melting the white candy melts. This is a set of 4 ramekins. They are 14-ounce capacity and microwaveable.
- Use a disposable piping bag or regular food storage bags to dispense the melted candy melts onto the white.
- Rubber spatula for stirring the candy melts.

Description
These marshmallow pops are stuffed with brownies and swirled in pink and white candy melts. They make great treats for parties, special occasions, and holidays. Just change the colors to suit the theme.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Cut brownies into 1/2-inch cubes (you will need only 15). Shape brownies into 1/2-inch wide logs. If there is excessive crumbling, add a few drops of water to moisten while shaping.
- Apply oil to the tip of a butter knife. Insert the knife into the center of each marshmallow using a twisting motion to create a cavity. Reapply oil to the knife as necessary to prevent sticking.
- In a microwave proof bowl, melt the white candy melts for 1 minute at 50% power. Stir even if it does not look melted. Microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power. Stir well. It should be smooth and creamy. If not, microwave again for 20 seconds at 50% power. Repeat the 20 second microwave step as needed. Don’t overheat to prevent seizing.
- Use a greased fingertip to widen the center of the marshmallow if the cavity is too small. Dip a brownie into the candy melts. Insert brownie into the marshmallow. Dip a cookie stick tip into the white chocolate. Insert deep into the center of the marshmallow without going all the way through. Repeat until all the marshmallows are stuffed.
- In a microwave-proof bowl, melt the pink candy melts for 30 seconds at 50% power. Stir even if it does not look melted. Microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power. Stir well. Melt for 20 seconds at 50% power, if needed.
- Pour the pink candy melts into a plastic storage bag. Work the candy melts into one of the corners. Twist close and snip off a tiny slice off the tip. Pipe a pattern over the white chocolate (I use an asterisk pattern).
- Dip a marshmallow straight down into the candy melts, twisting once it is halfway submerged. Twist in the opposite direction while pulling it out. Stand marshmallow pop upright in a styrofoam block or a container filled with rice.
- Drizzle in more pink candy melts as needed and repeat dipping the remaining marshmallows.
- Candy melts will harden while sitting out at room temperature. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
Notes
- Optional: scoop out a little dollop of white candy melts to use for dipping the tip of the brownie before you stuff the marshmallow. This prevents crumbs from mixing with the candy melts that will be used for swirling.
- If the cookie sticks are loose when swirling in candy melts, reapply the candy melts to the tip and chill the marshmallows for a few minutes to allow the candy melts to set quickly.
- If candy melts become too thick to swirl, microwave for a few seconds to soften. Repeat as needed.
- Shallow bowls make it more difficult to swirl the strawberries once the candy melts level gets low. It’s better to use a taller bowl with narrower sides, or one that is tapered at the bottom.

These are so cute!!! And they look easy to make as well. I can see how you could use different flavor brownies and different colors for any occasion.
You did an amazing job with your video!!! What a great treat!!
Thanks Annmarie. I love how versatile the can be 🙂
Thanks Liz! I have a ways to go, but it's a good start 🙂
You did such a good job with your video!!!! I can't believe you used wire – you are so inventive. I need my hubby to fashion something like that for me!! Also – I just posted some marshmallows but now I'm wishing they were stuffed with brownie! Holy moly does that look yummy!
They are so freakin' adorable! And high five for an awesome video, Thao! Great job! You make 'em look too easy, which may not be a good thing, lol 😉 Such a fun recipe to make and I bet even better to receive….my niece would just love these!
Great job on making an awesome video and not giving up despite all the technical difficulties! What an fun and tasty recipe. I love the pink swirl!
Well, I'm impressed! I thought it turned out great. How long did it take from start to finish?
This is amazing! I can't believe you shot the video on your iPhone–it looks great! And these little brownie pops are so cute and sound so delicious I think I need to make some for myself!
Thank you, Katherine! I like doing little DIY projects every now and then. My prototype needs a bit of tweaking for long term use, but it works. You really should have him make one! And I just saw your sweet little marshmallows! Love them!! 🙂
Thank you Marie!! It was a do or die situation. It had to be completed no matter what as far as I was concerned. ????
Thank you Dawn!! I'm looking forward to learning more about food videography. My favorite part of making these marshmallow pops is the swirling. I think I can work in a candy shop or bakery swirling marshmallows all day! ????
Thank you Abbe!! It took too long! I was hoping to get it done in a couple hours from start to finish, but it took me at least 5. The cameral space issue ate up a lot of time as I had to go through my photo library to move and delete photos in an effort to free up space. Plus I had to fuss a lot with my camera mount to position the phone just right. But I think with a little tweaking, it will work out much better next time.
Thanks Kelsie! I think I grew a few gray hair during the video shot, but it was worth it! These are super cute and perfect for kids and adults. 🙂
These are so cute! I absolutely love the idea 🙂
Thank you Danielle!!

That was my fear too, Heather! I had it secured well. Didn't want my $0 investment to turn out to be a cost of a new phone 🙂
Gorgeous pictures, such cute pops. And great video, super that you managed it without buying extra equipment!
It was a personal challenge that I'm glad took on 🙂
