Honey Glazed Fried Wonton Chips are fried wontons coated in a sweet honey glaze and sprinkled with sesame seeds. They are sticky, crispy, crunchy, and absolutely delicious! Enjoy them as a snack or dessert.
My husband, my kids, and I often visited this nearby Chinese buffet. It offered a large selection of tasty foods at reasonable prices. What kept me returning was the all-you-can-eat crab legs. I always indulged in seconds and thirds. Over the years, the quality of the restaurant declined, and we eventually stopped going.
These wonton chips are inspired by another dish I enjoyed on the restaurant’s menu: the sweet fried wontons. I love the simplicity, crunch, and subtle sweetness. The wontons were just fried, and I suspect they are sweetened with a sugar syrup.
My version of wontons is honey-glazed and topped with sesame seeds. They are crispy, sweet, sticky, and delicious!

Here’s how I make these Honey Glazed Fried Wonton Chips!
Recipe highlights:
- Preheat a large skillet with 1 inch of oil to 350°F.
- Add 6 to 8 wontons at a time to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd.
- Fry until golden brown, turning wontons over halfway.
- Transfer to a baking sheet fitted with a cooling rack to drain oil.
- Continue frying the remaining wonton wraps.
- Heat honey and butter on the stovetop or in the microwave until the butter melts.
- Brush the tops of each wonton with the honey mixture.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
I’ve been frying a bit more than usual lately, but when the family craves a tasty treat to brighten the day, fried food is always appreciated around here. I don’t feel too guilty about indulging in these. After all, the gooey honey and sesame seeds almost make the wontons qualify as healthy food.😀
