Have you ever had something and wondered how you went your whole life without it? That’s the question I asked myself after enjoying this pie for the first time. It’s ridiculously easy to make and so dreamy!

The banana’s natural sweetness is enhanced when it’s cooked. In this pie, it’s soft, velvety, sweet, and pairs perfectly with the rich melted chocolate chips.

Chocolate Banana Pie

I assure you, this pie is one of the easiest you’ll ever make! It only takes 10 minutes to prepare before baking. Using store-bought refrigerated pie crusts makes quick and simple assembly. I prefer the Pillsbury brand. Just unroll them to use—no fuss! This pie crust is foolproof and consistently delivers a buttery, flaky texture.

The filling is quick to prepare. Simply slice the bananas and mix them with chocolate chips, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Layer the bananas and chocolate chips in the pie dish, which has been fitted with a pie crust, then cover with the second crust. Once assembled, it’s ready to be baked!

This banana pie is divine when hot, but it’s also delicious at room temperature or cold. It’s perfect on its own, but a dollop of whipped cream, ice cream, and/or chocolate sauce takes it over the top!

Store leftover pie in an airtight container. You can keep it at room temperature for a day, but I recommend refrigeration. The cooked bananas release more liquid at room temperature, while cold refrigeration slows this process. The pie can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Chocolate Banana Pie with slices of sweet banana and chocolate chips is one of the easiest pies you can make. It is a perfect dessert year-round and is fantastic served hot or cold.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Position the rack on the 2nd lowest rung from the bottom. Place a baking sheet on the rack and allow it to preheat.
  2. Peel and cut bananas into 3/4-inch chunks. Place in a large mixing bowl. Mix flour, cinnamon, and sugar in a small bowl and stir well. Add to bananas, gently stirring to coat.
  3. Place one pie crust in the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan. Add 1/3 of the banana filling. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the chocolate chips. Repeat layering two more times.
  4. Place the second pie crust over the filling. Tuck the edges of the crust under. Crimp the edges using your fingers or the tines of a fork. Use a sharp knife to make a few 1/2-inch slits in the crust, allowing steam to escape. Brush the crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar in the raw.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes on the preheated baking sheet. The bananas are done when they are soft but not mushy.
  6. Serve hot, at room temperature, or cold, topped with whipped cream, ice cream, and/or chocolate sauce.
  7. Makes 8 servings.
